On learning in public

The fastest way to learn something deeply is to teach it. When you learn in public — writing blog posts, sharing code, explaining concepts — you force yourself to fill the gaps in your own understanding.

Why it works

When you know someone else will read your explanation, you can't hand-wave past the parts you don't fully understand. You have to dig deeper. You have to verify your assumptions. This process of clarification is where real learning happens.

Overcoming the fear

The biggest barrier to learning in public is the fear of being wrong. But being wrong publicly and correcting course is itself a powerful signal of growth. Nobody expects perfection — they value authenticity and effort.

Getting started

Start small. Write about something you learned today. Explain a concept you recently grasped. Share a problem you solved and how you approached it. The bar is lower than you think, and the compound returns are enormous.
